About The Clinic Business Coach
The Clinic Business Coach is owned and run by Martin Mackenzie. Martin has 10 years of experience in the medical
aesthetics industry and owns an award-winning clinic on the South Coast. He also has overall 17 years of experience in business
development, training, client experience strategy and customer service operations. Joining Martin is Elizabeth Bardolph, a pioneer
in the industry being one of the first registered nurses in the UK to establish her own clinic almost 20 years ago and was at the
forefront of the development of the
industry amongst nurses, initially through the RCN and then the British Association of Cosmetic Nurses (BACN) as founding President.
The Clinic Business Coach can help new and existing clinic owners and practitioners to establish and develop
their clinic businesses and set them on a path to support long-term success.
Like many consumer-led industries the medical aesthetic market is becoming increasingly
competitive. This makes it more difficult for practitioners and clinic owners to establish themselves or
increase their local market share - especially when competing directly with the large national "chain"
clinics that are present in most major towns and cities.
Professional Credentials and Experience
After graduating from The University of Aberdeen with a Master's degree in Accountancy in 1992, Martin spent
many years working in the corporate world with well-known travel companies.
In 2005, after 13 years of corporate-life, and in his mid-thirties, Martin 'took the plunge'
and followed a desire to set up his own business - a facial aesthetics practice along with
medical doctor and GP, Dr Xavier Goodarzian.
The clinic, 'Dr Xavier G. Medi-Spa' in Southampton has continued to grow
over the last 7 years and has won a number of awards for customer service. Steadily
growing its treatment portfolio, the clinic now offers a wide range of facial aesthetics
as well as weight-loss treatments and lifestyle therapies.
Martin is also a Director of the national award-winning medical aesthetic training company - Innomed Training Ltd.
Established in 2006, Innomed Training, trains doctors, dentists and nurses in facial aesthetics treatments. It also provides
non-injectable training course to Level 3 Therapists as well as Dental Nurses and Hygiene Therapists.
Innomed Training was voted the best training provider in national industry-awards and, with a focus on independent hands-on
training, it continues to achieve high satisfaction scores as demonstrated by a survey of over 450 doctors, dentists and
nurses involved in facial aesthetics.
Martin also holds the position of Chief Executive of The Association for Facial Aesthetics (CODE-AFA).
The Association represents doctors, dentists, nurses and practice owners involved in facial aesthetics and provide an
extensive range of services and benefits to members as well as standing-up for high standards in facial aesthetics.
Liz Bardolph. LLM BSc RGN RM INP FRSPH
Having trained at St Thomas's hospital as a Nightingale nurse, I moved on to appointments as Ward Sister, Night Superintendent and Directorate
Nurse Manager. After having my family I spent eleven years in clinical research where I designed an award winning multidisciplinary study which
changed the delivery of diabetes care. This was done in parallel with two years of health education at IBM. Here I invigorated and negotiated its
inclusion into the company health education scheme as a result of its audited benefits.
I have been involved in medical aesthetics for nearly twenty years and run my clinic, Cosmecare, on the south coast in Hampshire. I specialise in
a range of anti-ageing treatments including dermal fillers, the use of the botulinum A toxin, skin rejuvenation and the removal of thread veins from
the face and legs. I offer a referral service to a dermatologist, cosmetic surgeons and vascular surgeons.
I was the last Chair of the Forum for Aesthetic Nurses where we worked closely with the Royal College of Nursing aiming to raise standards nationally
within the emerging specialty. I contributed to the acclaimed and accredited Competency document for nurses. Following the annexation of the Forum
I co-founded the British Association of Cosmetic Nurses (BACN) in 2009, and served as its President for four years. The organisation is actively supporting
aesthetic nurses through education and training via regional meetings and their annual CPD accredited conference. My committee work now includes Board
membership of the British Association of Sclerotherapists (BAS).
